Let's look at an musical selection that you probably know, "The Star-Spangled Banner." In this piece, the opening section of music is repeated.

Listen to the first section, which we will label A.

Now, listen to the A section repeated, so it is A' or A prime. Notice that it is exactly the same as the first section.

This moves us to the B section, which is completely different than the first two sections.

Now, we finish the song with a different section of music we refer to as C.

When all of the sections are combined, our national anthem is created. Listen to the full version recorded by "The President's Own" United States Marine Band.

"The Star-Spangled Banner" as played by the United States Marine Band has been released into the public domain.
