As you have learned through your work in this unit and in the unit on playwriting, creating a play is hard work! It takes creativity to find a unique idea that will appeal to your audience. It takes time to develop and revise that idea into something that a director and producer will want to put on stage. But, imagine how proud a playwright would be to see this final product on stage!

  • Did you imagine there were so many different styles of theatre out there?
  • What about how complicated those styles can be?
  • Can you believe that a comedy can make you cry?
  • Or that a drama can make you laugh?

The choices for a playwright are limitless! In the end it is the decision of the playwright. He or she must decide:

  • What story do I want to tell?
  • Who do I want to tell it to?
  • How do I want to tell it?

It is now time for you to tell your story!
